Ames defeats Cedar Falls 4-3 in 4A State Baseball Semifinals

The Cedar Falls high school baseball team had its season come to an end last night in the Class 4A State Semifinals.

A late Tiger rally came up short as Ames hung on to defeat the Tigers, 4-3, at the State Tournament at Duane Banks Field in Iowa City.

The Little Cyclones scored a pair of runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to grab an early 4-0 lead. Cedar Falls pushed a run across in the 5th, but trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the 7th.

In their final at bat the Tigers scored twice and had the bases loaded when the final out was recorded.

Cedar Falls finishes a memorable season 28-15 overall as its State Semifinals appearance was its first in program history.

Tigers coach Brett Williams recaps the State Semifinal loss to Ames.

Williams says this season was the greatest coaching experience of his life.

Williams talks about the growth of the program since taking over as head coach four years ago.
