With its win Cedar Falls raises it record to 26-14.
The Tigers play next at Cedar Rapids Kennedy tomorrow night in a Substate Final. The winner advances to the Class 4A State Baseball Tournament.
Last night in a Class 3A Substate Semifinal, Mount Vernon surprised Waverly-Shell Rock, 9-4.
The Mustangs jumped out to an 8-1 lead and hung on for the victory. Mount Vernon entered last night’s game with just a 12-19 record.
Waverly-Shell Rock, who won the Northeast Iowa Conference, ends its season at 21-12 overall.
In another area 3A Substate Semifinal, top-ranked Western Dubuque overpowered Independence, 11-4.
The Mustangs finish their season 21-20 overall.
