New Affordable Housing Built in Waterloo

Construction on Project Underway, Completion by Next Summer

The City of Waterloo will soon be getting a new affordable housing community.  The company leading the development is The Annex Group, a company based out of Indianapolis, IN that creates workforce, affordable and student housing communities. The new addition to Waterloo will be called Union at North Crossing and will have five buildings in the complex, each with 180 units. Each building will be three-stories, have one, two and three bedroom apartments available and will be located at 3340 E 4th St. Those wanting to live at the new complex would have to make 60% or less than the area median income.  The project is expected to take $37 million to complete.  Community Planning and Development Director Noel Anderson says other lots on the east side of E. 4th Street will be for a new daycare and new senior center. The main parcel of North Crossing will have 18 new lots for new retail, restaurants, and further medical buildings.  Construction for the project has already started and the complex is expected to open in summer 2024.
