Two candidates have been announced as finalists for the position of Cedar Falls Fire Chief. John Zolondek is the acting Fire Chief for Cedar Falls Public Safety and Chris Ledeker is currently the Fire Chief in Arkansas City, Kansas. The Fire Chief hiring process began in early March. The City received 11 applications for the position. Additional interviews involving City management, local emergency management officials, community members, and co-workers will take place in mid-May. There will also be a public meet and greet event on May 22nd and 23rd. Public Safety Director Craig Berte is expected to make a recommendation to Mayor Rob Green and City Administrator Ron Gaines in late May with a planned appointment by the City Council in early June.
