Waterloo jumped ahead 2-0 during the first period, but Dubuque did all the rest of the scoring on Saturday. While the Hawks’ five-game winning streak ended during the regular season finale, a different would not have altered their place in the Western Conference standings.
Waterloo’s second place finish yields a first-round playoff bye. The Hawks will play at home next weekend against either the Lincoln Stars or the Des Moines Buccaneers.
