The Waterloo Black Hawks helped themselves: a win against Dubuque assured the Black Hawks would have second place into the final day of the USHL season. A half hour after Friday’s win, the Tri-City Storm closed out the Lincoln Stars, meaning the Hawks clinch the second spot and a playoff bye.
