Waterloo West is headed to the Class 5A championship game.
Thursday, on action heard on The Fan, the 6th-seeded Wahawks defeated 7-seed West Des Moines Valley, 58-48, in the semifinals of the girls state basketball tournament.
Sahara Williams led Waterloo West with 21 points.
The victory was the 600th at West for coach Tony Pappas.
