Waterloo Voters Overwhelmingly Say Yes to Continuing School PPEL Levy

Property Tax Levy Will Increase to $1.34 in 2027

Voters in Waterloo overwhelmingly approved the Waterloo Community School District’s Physical Plant and Equipment levy in a special election Tuesday night, on a 71% to 29% measure. The approval will continue the district’s property tax levy through 2037, and construction, remodeling and repair of school facilities will continue through that time. Turnout was very small, only 2.75% out of over 1,300 registered voters cast ballots. The change to the levy’s tax rate comes in July 2027. It’s currently 67 cents for $1,000 taxable property value. That number will double to $1.34 in 2027.
