Cedar Falls baseball advances to State Semis against Ames with 11-1 win over Southeast Polk

It’s on to the semifinals for the Cedar Falls high school baseball team.

Last night the Tigers cruised past Southeast Polk 11-1 in 6 innings in a Class 4A quarterfinal at the State Tournament in Iowa City.

Cedar Falls jumped on the Rams early, scoring three runs in the 2nd inning, then blew the game open with six more runs in the 3rd.

The Tigers pounded out 9 hits, including three from Luke DeGabriele.

Starting pitcher Shae Buskohl went five innings and allowed just two hits and struck out eight.

Cedar Falls is now 28-14 overall this season. The Tigers  take on Ames in the semifinals tomorrow night at 7:30. Listen to the game on our companion station, Cruisin’ KCFI. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:15.
