Eight area players set to compete Saturday at 50th Iowa Shrine Bowl

Several Metro and Cedar Valley players will be represent the North team in this weekend’s 2022 Iowa Shrine Bowl.

The Shrine Bowl features 92 of the top high school senior football players in the state.

Area players on the North team roster include;

Will Lynch of Cedar Falls.

Waterloo West’s Tyree Gardner.

Waterloo East’s Kjuan Owens.

Jake Bradley of Waterloo Columbus.

Layne McDonald of Waverly-Shell Rock.

Grundy Center’s Logan Knaack.

Denver’s Braden Powers.

And Marcus Beatty of Independence.

Waterloo Columbus head coach Brad Schmit, will be an assistant on the North Staff.

This year’s game will be the 50th playing of the Iowa Shrine Bowl, which has helped raise nearly three-million-dollars for Shriners’ Children’s Hospitals.

Kickoff is Saturday afternoon at 4 at the UNI-Dome.
