The Black Hawks jumped ahead 3-0 on Saturday. Captain Myles Hilman got Waterloo moving with two first period goals. However, the Des Moines Buccaneers jolted the Hawks from the lead in the third period before winning the game in a shootout.
The playoffs begin Monday when the Hawks host the Lincoln Stars at 7:05 p.m.
