Dike-New Hartford’s Payton Petersen has been named the 2023 Gatorade Iowa Volleyball player of the year.
The award celebrates the nation’s top high school athletes for excellence on the court, in the classroom and in the community.
The 5-foot-11 senior outside hitter led the Wolverines to a perfect 50-0 record and the Class 2A State title this season. Petersen amassed 616 kills, 328 digs, 39 service aces and 36 blocks.
Petersen has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at the University of Louisville this fall.
