Because of the hot temperatures, several schools will be dismissing earlier the next several days.
Waterloo Community Schools will be dismissing early on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Secondary (grades 6-12) and Cunningham students will dismiss at 11:00 AM. Elementary students will dismiss at 12:00 PM.
On Wednesday and Thursday, August 23 and 24, Cedar Falls High School will dismiss early due to heat. This only impacts the high school. Tenth grade and new student orientation will be on Wednesday at 7:55 a.m. in the auditorium. Students will meet with their teachers until 9:15 a.m. At 9:15 a.m., all students must be present for period one, which begins at 9:25 AM. Period 7 will start at 11:40 AM and go till noon. Lunch 12:05-12:10 PM (Bus departure at 12:15) On Thursday, classes will begin at 7:55 and run through 11:10 AM. Lunch 11:05-11:15 (Bus departure at 11:15). K-6 Elementary – Classes begin at 8:45, dismiss at 1:50PM on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and next Monday, August 28th.
Cedar Valley Catholic Schools: Aug 23-25: PK-4 will dismiss at 11:30AM, K-5 will dismiss at 12 Noon, and 6th-12th Grade, at 11AM
Waverly-Shell Rock will be dismissing early on Wednesday and Thursday. Shell Rock at 11:40AM, Carey, Southeast, and West Cedar at 11:50 AM, Lied Center at 11:50 AM, middle school at 11:55 AM, and the high school at 12:00PM.
