UNI softball has added transfer Ava Smithson to its roster. Smithson joins the Panthers after one season at Minnesota State Mankato.
A Johnston alum, Smithson hit .298 and led the Mavericks with 12 home runs and 33 RBI as a freshman last season.
As a senior at Johnston she hit .505 with 12 home runs and 59 RBI.
