The Cedar Falls high school boys golf team will defend its 2021 state championship.
The Tigers won the Class 4A district meet at Thunder Hills in Peosta Monday, advancing to the state tournament.
Cedar Falls and Dubuque Wahlert both tied for the best team score, shooting a 305. The Tigers claimed the team title with a 79-83 edge for having the better fifth-player score.
Cedar Falls’ Owen Sawyer and Dubuque Hempstead’s Wil Sigwarth tied for low score with 72’s. Sawyer won a cardback tiebreaker for medalist honors.
The state golf meet takes place this Friday and Saturday at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids.
Waterloo West and Waterloo East both competed at yesterday’s District meet at Peosta. The Wahawks finished 14th and the Trojans placed 15th.
