Brockington named to Big 12 First Team, Hunter named Freshman of the Year

Two members of the Iowa State basketball team have received honors from the Big 12.

Izaiah Brockington won multiple awards as he was named All-Big 12 First Team, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team.

Tyrese Hunter was recognized as Big 12 Freshman of the Year and was also named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.

Brockington, a 6-4 senior guard who transferred from Penn State, finished the regular season third in the Big 12 in scoring and rebounding.

Hunter, a 6-foot freshman point guard, averaged 10.8 points and five assists per game.

The Cyclone duo played a significant role in helping the team to the biggest turnaround in school and Big 12 history.

ISU enters the Big 12 Tournament with a 20-11 record. The Cyclones will face Texas Tech Thursday night at 8:30. Pregame coverage begins at 7:30 on The Fan.
