Waterloo Columbus, Don Bosco, Wapsie Valley & Union succeed at Sectional wrestling

The road to Wells Fargo got underway Saturday in high school wrestling as Sectional action in Class 1A and 2A took place.

Some of the area highlights included:

In 2A, Independence won the Sectional meet they hosted, as the Mustangs finished with 225-points. The Mustangs qualified 9-wrestlers to Districts.

Union-LaPorte City finished 3rd as a team at the Independence Sectional and will move 7-wrestlers to Districts.

In 1A, defending state champion Don Bosco dominated the field at the Sectional at Brooklyn. The Dons collected 321-team points and advanced all 14-wrestlers to Districts.

Wapsie Valley took first at the Sectional held at Starmont. The Warriors scored 243-points as a team and qualified 8-wrestlers to Districts

Nashua-Plainfield took first in the team score at the Sectional held at North Butler. The Huskies won with 240-points and advance 8-wrestlers.

Also at the North Butler Sectional, Waterloo Columbus qualified four wrestlers to Districts, including defending state champion Max Magayna at 160.
