Cedar Falls, Waterloo West baseball teams play for State Tournament berths tonight

The high school baseball postseason continues tonight and a pair of metro teams are among those competing in Class 4A Substate Finals.

Waterloo West (16-19) aims for a third-straight upset win, playing at 4th-ranked Waukee (27-10).

The Wahawks upset Fort Dodge and Mason City en route to tonight’s Substate Final.

A win tonight would be West’s first State Tournament apperance since 2007 and third in school history.

First pitch is at 7:00. 

At Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex, Cedar Falls (23-13) hosts West Des Moines Valley (22-15).

The Tigers defeated Valley, 4-0, in a tournament at Waukee Northwest in late June.

A win tonight for the Tigers would be their first trip to the State Tournament since 2023.
