Cedar Falls boys basketball wins Class 4A State Tournament quarterfinal

The high school boys basketball State Tournament tipped off yesterday at Casey’s Center in Des Moines and the Cedar Falls Tigers were among the teams in action.

In its Class 4A quarterfinal, Cedar Falls (23-0) used a dominant first half to cruise past Urbandale (14-9), 73-53, last night.

The Tigers led 41-17 lead at halftime and got 28 points from Jayden Kimbrough and Wil Gerdes. Gerdes hit 13-of-14 shots and pulled down 15 rebounds.

Cedar Falls out-rebounded the J-Hawks, 39-17, and outscored them, 36-16, in the paint.
