Denver & Dunkerton girls basketball teams in State Tournament semifinals today

Two area high school girls basketball teams compete in State Tournament semifinals today in Des Moines.

In Class 2A,

4-seed Denver takes on top-seed Hinton this morning at 10.

The Cyclones are 23-2, while the Blackhawks are 21-1. Hinton is 2A’s defending state champion, while Denver is back in the semifinals for the first time since 2022.

In Class 1A,

5-seed Dunkerton takes on top-seed Bishop Garrigan at 1:30.

Both teams own 23-2 records. The Raiders, who are making just their third ever appearance at state, are in the semifinals for the first time since 2008.
