Waterloo West high school names AJ Cassidy head volleyball coach

WATERLOO, Iowa — Pending approval by the Waterloo Community School District Board of Education, AJ Cassidy has been named Waterloo West High School’s next head volleyball coach.

Cassidy has served as an English teacher since 2012 at West. His coaching tenure with the volleyball program began in 2020 as an assistant coach. Additionally, he contributed nearly a decade of leadership to the West High girls’ basketball program as an assistant coach from 2016 to 2025.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to continue working with the Wahawk Volleyball program as head coach,” said Cassidy. “We have a strong group of dedicated student-athletes who are already putting in work this offseason. Their energy and dedication is contagious, and we plan to find as many opportunities as possible to help them continue their development.”
