Two former area athletes to be named to IHSAA 2025 football Hall of Fame class
The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced its 2025 Football Hall of Fame class and two former area athletes are among those to be inducted.
Former Waterloo East standout JJ Moses is set to be inducted. Moses was a three-year starter at running back and returner for the Trojans and broke the school’s all-time rushing record previously held by his father, Jerry Moses Sr.
JJ later played at Iowa State and was a first team All-Big 12 selection at receiver and kickoff returner. He played four NFL seasons with the Packers, Texans, and Cardinals.
Also being inducted into the Hall of Fame is former Waverly-Shell Rock standout Doug Benschoter.
Benschoter was a three-year two-way standout for the Go-Hawks from 1972–74. Following high school he continued at Iowa and was a defensive lineman and All-American wrestler for the Hawkeyes.
This year’s Hall of Fame class will be recognized at the UNI-Dome during the Class 5A championship game on Friday, November 21st.
