The Cedar Falls Public Works Department will begin construction updates at Island Park on Center Street, starting the week of October 21. During that time, access to the park, including the disc golf course, playground, and boat ramp, will be maintained. The improvements to the area will include implementing a new entrance off Center Street that will be adjacent to the Island Park disc golf course. The new entrance is expected to provide improved access to the park during times of wet weather. The south entrance will also be extended to provide additional access to the boat ramps. The parking lot by the Island Park playground will be updated and expanded to provide improved access to the playground and shelter area. Signage will be in place during construction to assist the public. Work is anticipated to take the remainder of the fall season. City officials say they’ll release updates on the progress as needed.
