Cedar Falls School Board Approves Sale of Former HS Building to Waterloo Christian Schools

The Cedar Falls Schools Board of Education voted 6-1 Monday night to sell the old Cedar Falls High School property on Division Street to Waterloo Christian School for $2.8 million. Waterloo Christian Schools plan to use the facility for a private K-through-12th grade school in 2025. Bids were submitted by Waterloo Christian and a South Carolina-based day care center entity. School Superintendent Dr. Andy Pattee says Cedar Falls Schools were required by state law to sell the property to an educational entity if they were the high bidder.
Pattee says it was not an easy decision, but one that had to take place.
Board Vice President Jenny Leeper said, prior to the vote, that proceeds from the sale of the former school property would help with expenses with the new school, which will open later this month.
Pattee has said the sale will close by December.
