Waterloo, Iowa – On the eve of the Waterloo Black Hawks’ 2023/24 home opener, the team is proud to announce that the $16.50 Campaign will continue this winter with the collaboration of erstwhile partners Slumberland Furniture and 1650-102.3 The Fan – KCNZ-AM.
For the remainder of October and all of November, supporters will be encouraged to make a contribution to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. With just the modest donation of $16.50, the Food Bank can provide dozens of meals to those challenged by food insecurity.
“The $16.50 Campaign only works when many fans come together to each do their part. It’s great to share the stories about work done by some amazing local non-profits, and we thank Slumberland and The Fan for their commitment to this effort,” said Black Hawks President and COO Joe Greene. “I hope you’ll join us during the weeks ahead, because if we all chip in, it will go a long way toward feeding hungry people.”
The Northeast Iowa Food Bank serves a 16-county area and distributes nutritious grocery products to a network of 153 nonprofit organizations and programs. Last year, the Food Bank distributed over six million meals. The organization has served the Cedar Valley and beyond for more than 40 years. More information about the Northeast Iowa Food Bank’s work and mission is available at neifb.org.
The Waterloo Black Hawks, Slumberland Furniture, and 1650 The Fan ask you to consider a donation of $16.50 for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank between now and the end of November. The goal is for 100 Black Hawks fans and KCNZ listeners to contribute that amount. When those small contributions are pooled together, they can make a big difference.
