The Grundy Center-Gladbrook-Reinbeck Boys Soccer team will play for the Class 1A State Championship on Saturday.
The Rebels outlasted Des Moines Christian, 3-2, in a game that went two overtimes and was decided by penalty kicks.
Grundy Center-Gladbrook-Reinbeck led 2-0 late in the final period, but Des Moines Christian scored a pair of goals in the game’s last 10 minutes, including an equalizer with just over a minute remaining.
The game then went two overtimes with no goals. The Rebels then outscored the Lions 4-2 in penalty kicks for the win.
With its win Grundy Center-Gladbrook-Reinbeck improves to 20-0 overall this season.
