Waterloo West’s Sahara Williams named MaxPreps Iowa High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Waterloo West’s Sahara Williams has been named MaxPreps’ Iowa High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

The 5-foot-10 senior wing led the Wahawks to a 22-2 record and a Class 5A State Tournament Quarterfinal appearance this season.

Williams averaged 20.8 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals per game this season.

Headed to play at Oklahoma next year, Williams is the first player from Iowa to be selected to the McDonald’s All American Game since Caitlin Clark in 2020. 

She will also participate in the Nike Hoops Summit.
