Waverly-Shell Rock, Don Bosco capture State Dual Team Wrestling titles

A pair of area schools captured championships at the State Dual Team Wrestling Tournament Saturday in Coralville.

Don Bosco won the Class 1A title, defeating Wilton in the finals, 36-25. It’s the third straight State Dual championship for the Dons and 13th in school history.

Waverly-Shell Rock won its third consecutive State Dual title. The Go-Hawks defeated Southeast Polk, 36-33, in the 3A finals.

This coming Saturday, berths into the traditional State Wrestling Tournament will be on the line as District meets will be held in all three classes.

In 1A and 2A the top two place finishers qualify to state, while in 3A the top three place finishers qualify. Listen to hold-by-hold coverage of the 2023 State Wrestling Tournament on The Fan. Visit our broadcast calendar for details.
