Leibold Sworn In as New Waterloo Police Chief

The Waterloo City Council Monday night approved Joe Leibold as Waterloo’s next Police Chief.  Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart then swore in Leibold to take over for Joel Fitzgerald, who left for the Denver area in August to head the city’s mass transit system. Leibold had been an assistant chief under Fitzgerald, and has been with Waterloo Police since 1990.  According to his employee agreement, his salary will be over $161,000. After the swearing-in, Leibold thanked the city, family and fellow officers.

Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart praised Chief Leibold for his long service.
