Cedar River Drowning Victim Identified

Waterloo Police have now released the name of the man who died after he walked into the Cedar River two weeks ago during the My Waterloo Days parade. He’s been identified as 25-year old Miguel Reyes-Guzman of Waterloo. Reyes was seen by the Sixth Street bridge around 6:30PM on June 10th, just before the parade, and witnesses said he disappeared downstream. His body was found on June 13th around 150 yards past the city’s water treatment plant. His name was withheld from release because of his immediate family living in New York and in Mexico. An autopsy by the State Medical Examiner’s office says Reyes’ death was from drowning.
