Waverly-Shell Rock applying for membership to Mississippi Valley Conference

A school official confirms that Waverly-Shell Rock will apply for membership in the Mississippi Valley Conference.

Waverly-Shell Rock was recently kicked out of the Northeast Iowa Conference. The NEIC demonstrated that Waverly-Shell Rock had grown much larger than most other schools in the conference and it created a competitive imbalance.

Waverly-Shell Rock had been in the Northeast Iowa Conference since 1933 and it’s scheduled to exit the conference at the end of next school year on June 30th of 2023.

Waterloo East recently left the Mississippi Valley Conference to join the newly-formed Iowa Alliance Conference, leaving the Mississippi Valley Conference with an odd number of 15 schools.
