After a unanimous vote by the Waterloo School board on Monday, Waterloo East High School is set to leave the Mississippi Valley Conference after the 2021-22 school year and join a newly formed conference in 2022-23 that consists of 10 schools who recently defected from the CIML (Central Iowa Metropolitan League). The Trojans will be joined in their new conference by Ottumwa, Marshalltown, Mason City, Ames, Fort Dodge, Des Moines Lincoln, Des Moines Roosevelt, Des Moines East, Des Moines Hoover and Des Moines North.
