Last night, the Waterloo City Council approved 6-0 the purchase of a new fire sprinkler system for the Riverloop Public Market building. The building had been repurposed eight years ago into a public market and deli and, according to Fire Chief Pat Treloar, did not have a sprinkler system.
The council awarded the bid to Black Hawk Sprinkler of Cedar Falls for $68,765 to install the sprinkler system. In addition, the council approved without discussion a pair of applications centering on this Saturday’s Mayor’s Fireworks Celebration, including a noise variance waiver and the application for the fireworks display off the Park Avenue Bridge starting around 9:45PM Saturday night.
In Cedar Falls, the council approved a proposal by Tjaden Properties, LLC to build a newer and larger facility on 2.7 acres along Technology Parkway. City Planner Shane Graham explains.
