An open house for the new Cedar Falls Public Safety building was held Monday afternoon. Construction on the $10.6 million building began last year and soon will be ready for full occupancy. Cedar Falls police officers and firefighters will be within one building, with future plans for the 18th Street fire station and another as yet planned fire station as “satellite” locations. Cedar Falls Mayor Jim Brown says the city was very fiscally responsive in getting the new facility built.
Public Safety Director and Police Chief Jeff Olson says it’s great to finally have both police officers and firefighters in one place.
Olson says they hope to be fully operational in the new facility by July 8th.
