6.3.19 – City Council Wrap Up

Last night, the Waterloo City Council approved a first reading 5-1 on a major warehouse and trucking operation expansion in the Northeast Industrial Park.  Con-Trol wants to develop more than 400,000 square feet of warehouse, office and maintenance buildings with access from Newell Street. There was opposition from neighbors along Newell Street concerned about the increased truck traffic on their street.  Homeowner Jons Olsson spoke out against that increase.

Councilman Pat Morrissey voted against the proposal, with Councilman Bruce Jacobs abstaining.

The Cedar Falls City Council approved a second reading on language to establish new parking regulations in the downtown.  Two weeks ago, the council passed the first reading on changes that were made from recommendations from the downtown parking study that was done earlier this year.  In addition, the council approved plans for MET Transit to operate a shuttle service starting  this Thursday and running through the end of August as part of that plan.
