    • 1A: Waterloo Columbus 6 Center-Point Urbana 2
  • Girl’s State Tennis Tournament:
    • 1A: Waterloo Columbus’ Taylor Hogan & Elysse Trost were defeated 6-4, 6-1 by Cedar Rapids Xavier
    • The team tennis meet begins Saturday … Waterloo Columbus will take on Dubuque Wahlert in a semifinal match up. Cedar Falls goes up against Ames in class 2A. Both matches begin tomorrow morning at 8:30.
  • Girl’s Regional Soccer 1A semifinals:
    • Garner-Hayfield @ Grundy Center-Gladbrook-Reinbeck at 6:00 tonight
    • Union @ Vinton-Shellsburg .. Waterloo Columbus vs. Denver, both at 6:00 tonight

  • The Cubs are in St. Louis for a 3-game weekend series against the Cardinals. After saying this off-season that St. Louis is “boring” Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is hoping to hear the boos in this weekend’s rivalry series. CLICK HERE for the video/story.
  • ICYMI: Former Iowa standout Nate Kaeding has been named the Minnesota Vikings new kicking coach. Kaeding’s NFL career last from 2004 to 2012, and when he retired he was the second-most accurate kicker in NFL history with an 86-percent field goal percentage. CLICK HERE for the story.

  • ICYMI: Penn State guard Rasir Bolton announced on his Twitter account that he’s transferring to Iowa State. Bolton is entering his sophomore season and was a key player for the Nittany Lions averaging 11.6 points per game as a freshman.
